Forensic science is a very broad field, and people working in it tend to specialize in only one or two small areas of it. These can include fingerprint analysis, DNA analysis, forensic pathology, blood splatter analysis, ballistics, toxicology, digital analysis, etc. Some technicians work in the field, and some work in the laboratory. The techniques used on a daily basis will depend on the analyst's specialty. An overview of all the different roles involved in forensics, along with their scientific practices, can be found here: http://www.aafs.org/students/choosing-a ... s-of-aafs/

Regardless of their specialty, all forensic technicians will write reports detailing the evidence they find. They will also testify in court as expert witnesses.
