We want to build a solar powered search and rescue robot. We have to control the robot with a radio remote control. We would like to use a cheap and good range remote control system for our robot. Could anyone tell what are our best options?

Hamzasfd - Cheap and good range don't always go together. There are other issues like how many things do you want to control? That would tell you how many channels of communication you will need. As to range, you didn't specify your requirements. As far as low cost goes, you might look into something like a 4 channel RC controlled car at any hobby shop, Radio Shack, retail toy store or eBay. Many can be purchased for under $25. Probably not high quality or range, but a start. More professional RC transmitter/receiver kits, including servos, will run from $75-150.
