BlueBot Project 3

Post by deleted-416448 »

Hello! I have two questions. 1. How can the IR Sensors detect the difference in color? (Black from white) 2. Why do you have to switch the jumper wire from positive to negative if you want the motor to spin in the opposite direction? Thank you so much!

Hi Sadia22551,

1. If you review the Background tab of the project, you will find a description of how the IR sensor works. Specifically you should look at Figure 2.
2. Reversing how the jumper wires are connected reverses the direction in which electrical current flows through the motor, which reverses the direction it spins. The project doesn't go into detail on how the inside of a motor works, but it involves electromagnetism (electrical current flowing through wires creates a magnetic field; reversing the current reverses the direction of the field). If you search for "motor" or "magnet" on our site, you will find several projects with more background information about motors and magnets if you want to learn more.

Hope that helps,

Ben
