how many volunteers needed for diabetic project?
My project is about the effects of exercise on the fasting blood glucose levels on a type 2 diabetic. A similar project is listed on the science buddies website, and indicates just 1 volunteer. Could this project be done with just 1 diabetic?

Re: how many volunteers needed for diabetic project?
Hello. It is always best to have as many data points as possible. With just one volunteer, it is difficult to tell whether the results are representative of the population or more unique to the one individual. I would recommend a minimum of three volunteers, but the more the better. In the more advanced realm, you would use statistics to calculate the number of subjects required to gain statistical confidence.
Don't forget you need to have control subjects (persons without diabetes), as well.
I hope this helps. Write back if you have additional questions.
Good luck!
