Do Warmer Seas Make Stronger Hurricanes? Data problems

Post by deleted-517372 »

Hello

I am doing research following the "Do warmer seas make stronger hurricanes?"- project but I experience some problems. I can only find water temperature data beginning in 2002. Is it possible to somehow get older data. I would need data beginning in 1973.

Thank You

Hi Stef,

Temperature data are not available for all buoys back to the 1970s. If you hover the cursor over the buoy icon that you are interested in it sometimes shows the years for which data were recorded. Otherwise, click on the icon and it should give you a list of the available years for data that you can click on.

Try clicking on buoys along the storm track and see how much data you can get. Even if you can only get a few readings at the correct date and time, you can plot those for a specific hurricane.

Let us know if this works.
