volcano is built and i wanted to set in "ocean" electricity not available for motor in display room, so i thought the gelatin could replicate wave action. can we make gelatin at home and if so how? where can i buy commercial gelatin if we cannot make at home. thanks

Supermarkets sell unflavored Knox gelatin that you dissolve in hot water. You may have to adjust the proportions of gelatin to water to get something that moves the way you want.
