Post by deleted-649787 »

For my project I have to make an iodine indicator to test vitamin c levels, I've been using providone iodine since that is the one my teacher gave me. I have been trying and following the instructions but it isn't working the citrus juice isn't change color and sometimes and starts to get more paste like(not sure if it's supposed to happen). PLEASE HELP!!!

Hi Something,
Are you working on this experiment? https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... #materials

The experiment had called for a 2% Lugol's iodine solution and, after looking at the datasheet for the providone iodine, I am guessing that something in providone iodine is causing another reaction that's interfering with the experiment.

Here are the two datasheet:

https://www.humco.com/wp-content/upload ... 10-SDS.pdf

At any rate, I am guessing you are going to need to switch the iodine solution to make this work.

Good Luck!
