Turn Plants into Biofuel with the Power of Enzymes

Post by deleted-430304 »

Hi,

I am a high school student that's interested in the Science Buddies project "Turn Plants into Biofuel with the Power of Enzymes." I have done research for this project and I would like to extract cellulase (cellobiase) from different mushrooms (shiitake and oyster mushrooms) to convert the cellulosic biomass to biofuel. So which extraction buffer should I used to extract cellulase from mushrooms?

Thanks,
Stella

Hi Stella - This project at Science Buddies is an Abbreviated Project Idea, so it doesn't have a step-by-step procedure available. Instead, based on your research, you will design your own testing procedure. The project information does reference a specific kit available from Carolina Biological for use with the project. Have you looked into that?
