Help with Crystal Science Fair Project!

Post by deleted-694732 »

My son wants to do a science fair project that would test which of a series of substances would grow the best crystals( things like Borax, table salt, etc). We are trying to figure out which process we would use for each one so that they are all done the same as the control. Help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

The variable being changed in this experiment isn't the substance being used, but have you and your student looked at this experiment? https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... #procedure

The procedure does give you a way to grow crystals that may be helpful for the project your student envisions. (Check the "Make it your own" tab, and you will see that the variations include testing other substances.)
