Is there acquired tolerance to noisy workplace

Post by deleted-863456 »

Hello !
I was wondering if there is some acquired tolerance to noisy workplace.
For example, people tell me "don't put noise-cancel when you are working, or you will become used to it, and when you will work in a noisy workplace, you won't be able to focus".

I searched google scholar for "acquired tolerance noisy workplace" and similar queries, but cannot find any studies.

Does anybody knows about it ?

Thx !

(I hope it is the proper place to ask my question.)

Hi alexandre-raufast,
That is an interesting question! Unfortunately, similar to your findings, I was not able to find any study about building up noise tolerance in the work place. The closest that I was able to find was this article on "Repeated exposure to noise increases tolerance in a coral reef fish"

https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/a ... 9116304468

Hopefully, this may help answer some of your questions and may be of some help in formulating a hypothesis for your experiment.

Good Luck and please post again if you have any follow-up questions.
