Topic Question

Post by sourire »

Hello!

I'm "mentor"-ing a student who really enjoys math, so she wants to do something that relates to dice probability. But I'm not exactly sure what kind of experiments we can do concerning this topic. I suggested doing something like changing the numbers on the faces of the die and seeing which number arises the most frequently, but this did not seem to interest her. Is there perhaps a better experiment that we could do?

As an alternative, she also suggested genomics, but I'm not certain of what experiments we could do in that area, either, besides breeding animals/plants, but that would be hard in the time allowed for the project. Do you have any suggestions?

Thank you so much!

She's in eighth grade, but she's quite advanced in math.

We decided to do something similar to the project involving dice probabilities. Thank you for your recommendation!
