apple dehydration

Post by chase11 »

:( Hi, I am not sure what happens when dehydration takes place in my apple project. I understand my project, but cannot find the right explanation for it. I can only find the dehydration explanation for humans. Is it the same? or is it considered decomposing? If you can help me out with the explanation, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,
Chase11
I am having trouble finding out a defined answer to what actually happens to the apples as they dehydrate. Is the dehydration the same for fruit as it is for humans and osmotic prodedures?

Hi Chase,
Humans must actively excrete some water to survive. During dehydration of a fruit like an apple, the water escapes due to evaporation. Try a Google search for "evaporation," and please feel free to post again with any questions about the content you find on those pages. Also, if you explain more about your experimental procedure, experts here might be able to give you some helpful hints about other issues of importance for your experiment.
