The intensity of different sports can vary drastically. For example, think about running 400m "suicide" sprints vs. a friendly game of ping-pong. Also, some exercises will intrinsically be more cardiovascular-oriented than others (and that's why people do them to improve their cardio fitness).

Heart Rate
gman62191,
Shijun is correct. Different sports affect the heart differently. One way to measure this is to measure the number of heartbeats per minute. For instance, feel your pulse in the middle of a really boring class. Then, feel your pulse after running a mile. Is there a difference?

All the best,

yes, different exercises cause different increases in heart rate. An example of an experiment to test this would be to take someone's resting heart rate, and then have them jump rope for 1 min. and take their heart rate. Then, take resting heart rate again, and have them do a less strenuous exercise, such as walking, or sit ups, for 1 min. and then take their heart rate again.
Good luck with your project!
