Struggling with “How old is the Universe.”

Post by Roh0123 »

I’m having a tough time understanding the chart with all of the numbers on it. Do I have to subtract the g-r for all 300+ stars?

Hello,
So I think what you are confused about is the 2nd step of the 'Make a H-R Diagram' procedure. You are correct in that you need to subtract the R value from the G value (g-r) for each star. In a spreadsheet, these values will be in their own column. You can subtract these two values by subtracting the two respective columns from each other. The H-R diagram has the G column on y-axis and the new G-R column on the x-axis.
Hope this helps!
