Use the Arduino IDE (not Arduino App Lab) for R4

Post by amyCC »

I'm posting this as a general update in case anyone runs into a similar problem. I assisted a student this week who was having a trouble working on an Arduino ultrasonic project. The board wasn't being detected.

They shared this image:

The image shows Arduino App Lab, which wasn't detecting their R4 because Arduino App Lab only works with Uno Q.

If you are working on an Arduino project from Science Buddies that uses the R3, the R4, or calls for the Electronics Kit for Arduino (which would be linked in the project), then you need to make sure you are using the Arduino IDE (either as a standalone software or via the web interface).

If you run into other problems with board detection when setting up your project, we recommend looking through the troubleshooting steps listed here: There are additional troubleshooting steps if there is a problem with the board recognition listed here: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... uide#board

You can get additional help here in the forums, but I wanted to highlight this potential app confusion.
