I'm not sure what you mean by absorb cold air.
I think by your project title you are trying to see if changes in temperature affect how high a ball bounces?
To help us out, please let us know what grade you are in.
Also, do a google, wikipedia, or answers.com search on "temperature and pressure of gases", Charles's Law, and Boyle's Law.
