ADAMCAROLLA,

First, how long have you had this assignment. I hope that you have note procrastinated.

I would reccomend researching the nature of Ccarobon dioxide, anf the Gas Laws (Charles' Law, Boyle's Law). This should give you a good idea of how the CO2 will act. You may also look into the volume of the CO2 at atmospheric pressure.

Good Luck
All the best,

ok ok i got some questions

Post by ADAMCAROLLA »

well i have a few questions

i got a lil farther sinice i posted the topic

first question
what is the elemen in vinengar that, when combined with baking soda, creates it to expand so much.

second question
why DOES the compound expand so much

third question
does this combination of the elements needed to expand appaer in everyday life like balloons or other things? explain

fourth
what makes you yourself an expert at science, what do you major in

fifth
what is your full name

sixth
how much wood would a wood chuck chuck

ok thanks if you answer these questions

but i have to say, my backround research paper is due tomorrow

ADAMCAROLLA,

Vinegar has a chemical composition of C2H4O2, which is suspended in H2O. Baking soda has a chemical composition fo NaHCO3. These two compounds react when they are mixed togewther to procude CO2. CO2 gas is note very dense, so it causes the exapnsion that you are talking about, because this reaction is converting to dense materials into a less dense material. Therefore, more room is needed to hold the same amount of matter. This reaction is an acid-base reaction. Baking soda is very basic, while vinegar is rather acidic. A similair reaction occurs while making bread. Baking soda is mixed with a mild acid, and CO2 bubbles are formed, which make the bread light and fluffy.

I am an expert in science because I have a broad knowledge of the core sciences, and how they can be applied to science fair and research projects. I am actually a high school student. I plan to major in Geochemistry while attending CalTech. My full name is Terik Daly.

A wood chuck will chuck wood until he is not hungry anymore.

Good Luck!
All the best,
Terik
