I'm am looking for research, that is understandable, showing the effect of a steady, consistent wind on a plants(croton) growth

Here are a couple of background articles that might help you. Both of these are published scientific references, but the language is not too technical and I think will give you ideas for your write up.

The first article describes an experiment and shows how to measure results for this type of experiment.
