Why does water make your fingers wrinkly?

Post by kiciara »

I would like to get an outline on how to conduct this experiment. I want to know why this change happens and how I can make this a purposeful experiment. My teacher asked this to be a simple and straightfoward experiment. The goal is to identify some process or change that you can investigate using the scientific method. If you think my idea doesn't fit my teachers objective, do have any ideas. Thank you for your help.

Hi kiciara-

If you do a Google search on 'water fingers wrinkly' you will find many web pages with explanations as well as a few possible experiments you can do.

kiciara,

This sounds like a very interesting experiment. The principles that are at work in this experiment are diffusion and osmosis. Find out information about these concepts, and try to apply them to your experiment. If you have any questions, please ask!
All the best,
Terik
