Why are some liquids more volatile than others?
The simple answer is because they are! Different liquids have different physical properties, volatilitiy is just a physical property.

Science Buddies site is intended to help students with Science Fair projects. Putting your question into a search engine like ask.com.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index ... 053AAipUCs has this answer:
All liquids evaporate at any temperature. Some evaporate slower than others. It is only a matter of comparison. Water is more volatile than, for instance, corn oil, but ethyl alcohol is more volatile than water when the three liquids are compared at the same temperature. Raising the temperature will increase the volatility of all three liquids. For more information look up Vapor Pressure Curves of some liquids. I hope this helps.
