axial flow fan design

Post by insideman »

Stepanoff advocates solidity = 4.75 X (gh/um^2) . I am uneasy about this, thinking that less chord would often be beneficial by decreasing drag losses, provided that other inefficiency is not thereby introduced.
The benefit of of improving efficiency, even a couple of points, would be incalculable. Imagine all the worlds radiator fans suddenly consuming slightly less fuel.

Can you point me toward sources that either support or refute Stepanoff?

axial flow fan solidity

Post by insideman »

Some of the sited sites were simply not there. Two denied entry to me. One mentioned solidity. but not Stepanoff. Two concerned dredging, not fans. Where next?

Good luck using the engineering boards.

Thank you. But I still see nothing apropos my need. Maybe I'm too thick headed?
