What is in motor oil that kills plants? How does motor oil infect the plant? Is the infection in the plant a type of disease or something else? What stages of the plants growing cycle is affected? How does motor oil effect the plant's growing cycle?

Thanks Mary, but I've already looked at those sites. What I was looking for was for someone to answer those questions themselves because my science teacher wanted an interview.

I'm not a plant expert, so I can't really answer your questions, but please see Science Buddies' interview policy: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/mentorin ... =25&t=5681 and consider contacting someone locally. If your state has a department of agriculture or an agricultural research station, I highly suggest trying to get an interview with someone at one of those places.

Please let your teacher know that in the future, interview questions should not be background research questions. We can help you find some resources or explain a concept that is confusing, but it is the student's job to do background research to answer such types of questions. The interview questions should be about the actual person being interviewed, not questions about the project. (For example, questions like "how long have you worked with plants" or "why did you decide to become a scientist" are relevant and make sense to ask an expert, but questions like "how is chocolate made" is something that you should try to research by yourself first).
