hypothesis

help please. I can't figure out how to word my hypothesis. I'm testing paw preference in cats. Hypothesis: When presented with a treat or toy, cats will prove to prefer one paw over the other. is this correct, backwards, all wrong??

You have everything in there! Your independent variable is what you are offering the cat and how you are presenting it to them (with your right or left hand, putting it on the floor, or holding it out, etc.). Your dependent variable is the paw they prefer.
