Hi science2010,

Sorry no one got back to you in time. In the future please ask a question at least two days before your project is due. We try to answer within 24-48 hours. Experts check in on different days and times so you shouldn't expect an immediate response (don't wait until the last minute! :-)).

If you still need help, check out our resources:

To help you find a project idea, you can either browse ideas by area of science or take our "Topic Selection Wizard" which asks you a series of questions and then recommends some projects specifically for you. Make sure you are difficulty 4 to 7, as that is a middle school level. Since you need to find a project quickly, look at projects that have a "Very Short" time frame. Just look at the Project Summary box on the right side of the project idea page. Since you need an idea fast, I'd recommend taking the Topic Selection Wizard.

You can go to the Topic Selection Wizard and browse project ideas here: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... deas.shtml

Since you are interested in doing something "green" you could also take a look at our Environmental Science and Environmental Engineering projects:
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ?ia=EnvEng
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ?ia=EnvSci

Look at our How To Do A Science Fair Project section in our Project Guide here: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... ndex.shtml
We walk you through each step in the project, from forming a question and hypothesis to analyzing results and writing your research paper.

Good luck and I hope you were able to get an extension or that you figured something out in time!
Stuck? Check out our project guides!
