Post by sciencefan »

Hello, I am lloking for help to be able to identify female mosquitoes from males. I will be buying mosquitoes as larva and will be rearing them up at home. Later,I would like to separate females from males. Any tips would be very valuable. Thank you.

Hi!
No, ethyl alcohol would not change the structure of the oil. In fact, ethyl alcohol is often used as a solvent that extracts the oil from other compounds. Hope this helps!

Hi,

Here's a pdf with some great info about mosquitoes, including how to tell females from males: http://www.mosquitoes.org/downloads/MosqFacts.pdf

Good luck!
