Measuring Bacteria

Post by adrsam »

My son conducted an experiment about bacteria growth in meat by using 3 methods of defrosting. We have the results of the baceria growth but don't know how to analyze it. I've attached a picture and asking for assistance. Thanks

Hello,

How about counting the colonies, or determining density of colonies per unit area on the petri dish. I looked at other posts on the ask an expert forums, and it seems that in this type of experiment counting the number of colonies is what you want to do. If you have multiple trials, you can average the number of colonies from each trial.

Hope this helps,

Hello,

I agree with the expert that you should count the colonies...Then, you can make a graph comparing the three methods (perhaps a bar graph) and then draw conclusions based on the graph/experiment...

Hopefully that helped!
