Static electricity experiment

Post by hanniganml »

My daughter is in 1st grade. She has chosen to answer the question "Why does your hair stand up when you take of your hat"? I wanted to know if anyone could suggest a simple experiment that would be appropriate for a child her age.

Thanks,

Michelle

I think Science Buddies has just the experiment you're looking for. It's called "Rubbing Up Against Static Electricity". You can find a complete description and test process at this URL:

Have fun!!
