Good evening,
It is my son's first time doing a project and he choosed "Glaciers" However we have no clue on how to create a glacier for his presentation. We have all the data/info but our problem is that we don't know if can make like a diorema or if it has to be like a miniature glacier made with like a full cup of water mixed with sand and then let it melt so it can leave the sand as an example of what glaciers are or were form with. Any ideas? I apologize if I don't make myself clear, my primary language is Spanish and I do my best to express myself in English. We were thinking that he can make like a diorema with foam to make the glacier we though that we can paint it with a little bit of blue and make like water around and some arctic animals around also or some mountains... I don't know.
I thank you very much for whatever idea you can give to us. :O)

Hello Izaak,
Doing a quick search on "glaciers, science project", here's what turned up:
http://www.sandiegozoo.org/education/sc ... acier.html
http://www.ehow.com/info_8088358_scienc ... ciers.html
What's suggested is to make a cornstarch and water mixture, and use this to mimic glacier flow -
the cornstarch if thinned with water (keep records so you can duplicate
a good mix) would be a good model of frozen ice flow - and a lot easier!
Depending on your son's school requirements, you may have to work up a testable
hypothesis of what the experiment would show. The links have several thought-provoking
questions that you may want to adapt to your son's interests.
This sounds like a lot of fun and I think you and your son have chosen a great topic!
Good luck!
