Re: detergent enzymes
Hi,
Welcome to Science Buddies! I’m sorry we have been slow in responding to your question.
Are you doing this project?

There are 3 types of enzymes in laundry detergents, lipases break down grease, proteases break down proteins, and amylases break down carbohydrates. You will need to know which enzymes are in your detergent and the composition of the food you will use to test. Try doing an internet search for laundry detergents & enzymes. This project will be challenging to do because it’s difficult to measure the amount of stain removed from the sample. Can you think of a way to set up a measure the results? How will you set up a controlled experiment? Do you need any specific information about doing your science project?
