I couldn't find the experiment for my science project!

Post by Jaritabustamante »

Hi,
I am new to this website and I am not sure where to start but... I have a difficult time finding my science fair related to this- "Why healthy soil and correct brand of seed are important?" And my Hypothesis would be: "The healthy soil and correct brand of seeds makes rich nutrient in vegetables." However, I couldn't show the experiment at science fair. I don't know what I can show that? I was hoping that I am able to experiment the Vegetable like tomatoes or cucumbers by ph test and show both are different value of nutrition. Is it possible? If not then what can I show something to prove about the healthy soil would make vegetable more nutrition? My science fair project due is on March 5. I have been research for almost 3 weeks and I couldn't find any good experiment yet!
Hope that you are able to help me with simple and easy way to experiment.
Thanks
Jarita

Hi,

Welcome to Science Buddies! The problem you are having is that your topic is too complicated for one science fair project. Generally you want to do one experiment with controls to answer one question. Comparing brands of seed could be one project. Comparing soil types could be a different project, but both together would be too many variables to test. Since time is short, you need to pick a project that you can do quickly. One possibility would be to measure the percentage of germination of different brands of one type of plant, for example, radish seeds.. Here are other plant projects from the Science Buddies Webiste:

You should also read through the Science Fair Project guide and make sure you include all of the steps in a science project.

Please go ahead and try to pick a project that you can get done in time, and post back with any questions that you have.

Good luck!
