The science experiment includes a two groups of people. One group doing a sedentary activity while the other group does some type of exercise. Can I have less than 8 people total to complete the experiment? Can I have a 3 people in each group?

This sounds like a cool experiment! With only 8 people participating in the experiment, there could be experimental bias introduced. This means that, because you have too few people, your results could be less reliable because of differences from person to person. This could be mitigated by having a larger amount of people in your experiment. For example, if some participants in your experiment are stronger than others, then they might not need to try as had to excercise, meaning that the experiment may not be effective for them. Additionally, randomly assigning people to each group (a coin flip) would remove individual differences as well. If you can't find enough people, one way to increase statistical power is to take multiple measurements for each participant.

I agree with LeirD. If you want to get a more reliable outcome, you should increase the number of people participating. Also, it would be a great idea to mix genders and ages in groups. For example, you can include both males and females with varied ages in a group instead of all males in one. This would give you a more accurate and unbiased conclusion. I hope this helps!
