Does Gender affect color preference

Post by sdcln1234 »

Do I have to use the colors of pink and blue? Or can I choose other colors? I feel like pink and blue are already stamped in people's minds!

Hello,
This is a great experiment! While you can choose other colors, the main idea of this experiment is to see whether the colors used by products aimed at girls or boys have created gender-based color preferences or if the marketplace is responding to pre-existing gender-based color preferences. So, it will be most effective to use colors that, as you said, are already stamped in people's minds. If you are designing your experiment around choosing from a range of presented colors, you can mix in some other colors to see if there is a correlation between gender and those colors. For example, you can run one trial with shades of pink and blue, another with shades of green and yellow, and one with all four colors.
Have fun with this experiment!
