6 - Communicate Your Results

In this section, you will learn to clearly communicate your research process and findings to others, including judges, if you are participating in a science fair.

Task #6D: Finalize Your Lab Notebook

1. Review the Science and Engineering Project Laboratory Notebooks resource.

2. Make sure that your notebook is up to date and ready for the science fair using the checklist below:

   Lab Notebook Checklist
   • Your name, your teacher’s name, and your contact information is on the inside cover
     The project title and year are on the front cover and/or inside cover
     All pages are numbered sequentially
     Your table of contents is updated
     Each entry has a date
     Any loose papers are secured with glue, tape, or staples
     All work you did on your project, from planning to final data analysis, is documented in the lab notebook
     Ensure all entries are clear, concise, and legible. Remember, you should not erase anything, but you can cross out and rewrite items if necessary.
     Be ready to reference specific steps and data from your notebook during judging.
