Help With DNA Repair Deficient and Regular Yeast React to UV Radiation
Help With DNA Repair Deficient and Regular Yeast React to UV Radiation
Hi! I started the yeast and UV radiation project and am having trouble with the counting the cultures part of it. Is there any way to tell whether the cells are dead or not? I asked my science teacher and he recommended using a microscope or something that could measure the carbon dioxide in the air, and I don't have the former and neither have nor…

Hypothesis for what conditions are tornadoes formed
Hypothesis for what conditions are tornadoes formed
Good Afternoon,
Doing a science project on Tornadoes.
Need help on forming a hypothesis on under what conditions are tornadoes formed.
We are going to build a tornado with dry ice warm water and a portable fan.
Have to state the purpose in a question.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Self-Learning
Self-Learning
How should I go about self-learning a topic? For example, let's say that I want to learn Ohm's Law. Should I dive straight into the topic, learn the history, and the formulas, and pick up a few of the terms used in it like Voltage and Current? Or, would it be better to set a foundation by first learning the terms or concepts like Voltage, Current, Circuits, Resistance, etc., in-depth, and then connecting these terms to the larger topic to learn it fully as…

Vegetable Batteries Project
Vegetable Batteries Project
Hello! My friends and I are doing a science fair project about whether a potato battery or a lemon battery produces more power. We sort of went in blind, and haven't done any experiments yet. I'm not sure why exactly one battery would produce more electricity. I did some research on this website, and checked these two topics: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science-fair-projects/ask-an-expert/viewtopic.php?t=9529 and…

Question in creating an artificial pancreas project
Question in creating an artificial pancreas project
Hello,
While conducting this experiment we are unable to insert the tubes on both ends on the 5V pump and we are trying to use the 12V pump instead which requires an external power supply, how do we connect the power supply to make the circuit work? Is there any specific external power supply that we need to use? Any quick response is appreciated! Thank you!

Help Requested with Detect Fruit Ripeness Circuit
I was following all the Detect Ripe Fruit with a Visible Light Circuit directions (Is it ripe yet? Build a circuit to detect ripe produce). My circuit still isn’t working after redoing it multiple times. What should I do? I am also unsure if I need to use a 120 ohms resistor or the 47 one. Please help if possible.

Electrolytes in Sports Drinks versus orange juice
Electrolytes in Sports Drinks versus orange juice
Hello,
My child has chosen this experiment but I have a question. Why is this experiment even necessary? The label on drinks tells you how many electrolytes are in it. She was wanting to determine which drink had more electrolytes: Gatorade or the sports powder drink her dad uses when cycling. The experiment looks cool but I am struggling with the practicality or purpose since drinks are…

gene regulation
gene regulation
This isn't really a science project more of something I was curious about.
Theoretically, if you had a human fetus or that of one mammal could you manipulate gene regulation so you could make it resemble that of a different mammal?
Re: gene regulation
Theoretically, yes, but that's if you have different genetic codes from different mammals present during gene expression.
Honestly, it's obviously extremely risky if anything goes slightly wrong, but it would…
