Somethings Fishy Experiment
Somethings Fishy Experiment
My class just did the Somethings Fishy experiment and all our daphnia died. Does anyone have the data from their experiment that my students could use?
Re: Somethings Fishy Experiment
Hello Sheger,
Student data and results are not posted or shared at Science Buddies. This helps ensure that all students gather their own data as part of the experiment and then analyze that data and share their conclusions when writing up the results of…

Wall adapter
Wall adapter
For How Loud Can Paper Speakers Get?, we were told to buy Jameco Part no.: 380156, 12 V, 2 A DC wall adapter, but it is not available.
We cannot tell which of the Jameco “substitutes" is a viable alternative.
Can anyone help?
Thanks.
Paul
Re: Wall adapter
Hi - did you also buy the mini audio amplifier from Amazon linked in the materials list? If so, any other 12V, 2A wall adapter should work as long as the barrel plug dimensions are the same - 2.1mm x 5.5mm.…

Question about how to show statistics for my project
Question about how to show statistics for my project
Hello!
So I am doing a project on finding the harmful effects/what biological processes can be disrupted when drug targeting the protein Kv4.2. But I was wondering what I should do for my statistics because my project doesn't really have them I guess? Like I was using the NCBI Gene Database for everything and different articles I found but the results I got don't really have any…

Ocean Acidification Question
Ocean Acidification Question
Hi,
My son (9th grade) wants to try the Swimming in Acid experiment for his science fair project. I am his parent trying to help him, and have a background in chemistry but it has been awhile. One thing we wanted to try was to see if we could monitor the pH as the reactions are occurring by adding phenol red to the test jars. We are thinking of using 4 oz test jars. As long as we add the phenol red to the test jars at a…

Need guidance for a computational biology project
I’m working on my science fair project which involves the spine and algorithms. How much of the code that I’ve generated should I explain in my presentation? Thank you for your help. Also would computer science be my category or health science or environmental science since this project would help forensics and archaeologists? Thank you for your help

Effect of Probiotics on Antibiotic Resistance
Effect of Probiotics on Antibiotic Resistance
I had this idea for a science fair, I was thinking I could grow E. Coli in the presence of different probiotic foods on an agar plate, and then expose those to another agar plate with antibiotics to test the effects.
My question is about the experimental design for this experiment. I was planning on putting the probiotic foods into the LB agar broth itself, and then plating the E. Coli on top of that.…

What reflects IR light but not UVA/UVB?
What reflects IR light but not UVA/UVB?
Trying to find a material that is highly reflective of most/all IR/NIR light, whilst being minimally reflective, or ideally not reflective at all of UVA/UVB light. So far it seems like gold is a top contender. Two questions.
1) Is gold/gold-plated metal the best option?
2) Is it gold's composition or its color that exhibits these properties? Given the cost, could a gold-colored metal, or even gold aluminum foil,…
