Issue with right IR sensor on Bluebot Car Issue with right IR sensor on Bluebot Car The Right sensor does not seem to be detecting anything. We did run serial monitor and the Left IR changes value when approaching line - Right stays around 950 and never changes when placed on the line. We have switched the right and the left sensor to verify the sensor isn't bad and it failed on that as well. The right IR is A1 and and left is A0 - does this mean we have a bad connection? Predicting Future Water Quality with Machine Learning Predicting Future Water Quality with Machine Learning Posted on behalf of student ----------------------------------------------------- I'm in 9th grade and working on my science project for YMWIC Foundation, Inc. The project chosen was: Predicting Future Water Quality with Machine Learning. Per the instructions I am supposed to chart 4 weeks of info from the USGS National Water Dashboard but all the charts only show one week's worth… Read more

Clinostat: Arduino UNO R4 Minima won't run code Clinostat: Arduino UNO R4 Minima won't run code So I'm in a Science Fair and I've been trying to get my code to run on my Arduino. The code is in the "Grow Plants in Microgravity with an Arduino Clinostat" and I have already put in the code it just won't run. The computer I'm using is a Pixelbook Go. According to what I watched the code should execute when I put in the code but when I have wires attached to the Arduino it wouldn't connect to… Read more

Interview with a Computer Engineer and an Electrical Engineer Interview with a Computer Engineer and an Electrical Engineer Hi. We have a requirement in one of our classes where we need to interview a Computer Engineer and an Electrical Engineer. Is there anyone here willing to answer a few questions? Thank you! 1. Why did you decide to be a computer/electrical engineer? 2. How do you think you are different from a computer/electrical engineer? 3. What skills or knowledge gained during… Read more

Microsoft Hardware Engineering Intern Interview Microsoft Hardware Engineering Intern Interview Hello, I was wondering if anyone has interviewed with Microsoft for a electrical (hardware) engineering internship before? I'm not entirely sure what to expect. In the email my recruiter sent, he said to be comfortable with computer science fundamentals, OOP, and data structures, which I feel fine with but I thought it was a bit strange since I thought it would be more hardware focused lol. . Any… Read more

Connecting solar cell, motor and supercapacitor Connecting solar cell, motor and supercapacitor Hello, have been working on project "The Speed of Light: Explore Solar Energy with a Supercapacitor Car Motor." The instructions in the Science Wiz Energy Kit differ a little from the instructions on the website. The motor won't run. In the picture on the website, the red wire from the solar cell and positive side from the supercapacitor are on the left side of the motor. In the kit, its on the… Read more

Predicting Future Water Quality with Machine Learning Predicting Future Water Quality with Machine Learning Hi there! I am currently doing a project that utilizes decision trees and random forests, and I had a quick question. Can decision trees and random forests be used in iOS apps or apps in general? An example would be if the two types of machine learning were able to predict future water quality and their predictions were then displayed in an app. If so, how might it be accomplished?… Read more

Which Filtration Material Leads to the Best Drinking Water? Which Filtration Material Leads to the Best Drinking Water? Hello, my child has conducted the experiment “Which Filtration Material Leads to the Best Drinking Water?” on this site however no change was observed between the variables filtering out the ink (granulated activated charcoal and powdered activated charcoal). All were still very dark in color afterwards and didn’t appear to filter out the ink. Did we do something incorrectly… Read more

3.3V mini solar tracking system coding problem 3.3V mini solar tracking system coding problem Hi Folks first time here and this will be an easy question. but my Gr 8 daughter nor I can rewrite one line of code. We are trying to change the code in the tutorial video from : analog read pin P1 TO: set voltage to 3.3 × analog read pin P1 / 1023 We are unfamiliar with how to manipulate the code blocks such that we get: set voltage to 3.3 × analog read pin (0 / 1023) the division formula in… Read more
