Help with model car experiment
Help with model car experiment
I have to create model cars powered by different types of energy, such as solar, wind(or balloon-powered), or rubber bands, and test which one makes it move the farthest. I know how I'm gonna make each car but I'm not sure how I would go about testing them. How should I control the energy inputs and whatnot? I want to know how I should test the cars and make it as accurate as possible.

Charging electric vehicles with solar energy: a viable option to reduce stress on the grid? Science Fair help.
Charging electric vehicles with solar energy: a viable option to reduce stress on the grid? Science Fair help.
I’ve been working on this project by investigation, gathering data from various resources in the internet. I realized that i have no clue what to actually do to test my hypothesis. The hypothesis is: [i]”Using off-grid solar energy instead of using grid electricity to charge…

Electrolyte challenge, why dip in tap water
Electrolyte challenge, why dip in tap water
In the example experiment for the electrolyte challenge the conductance sensor is dipped in tap water followed by distilled water in between each sports drink that is being tested. We understand using tap water as one of your tests as it is a conductor. But, what is the purpose of first dipping it in the tap water rather than just using the distilled water to rinse?

Measuring glucose in fruit
Measuring glucose in fruit
My 7th grade daughter is measuring glucose in 3 fruits for Science fair. We have the sugar metabolism kit from your site. As she is repeating the test (for an apple, for example), does she need to use the same slice of apple every time, or a different slice from the same apple?
Secondly, do the slices from each fruit (apple, pineapple, lemon) need to be the same size?
Thank you!

Antioxidants Project
Antioxidants Project
Abstract
Antioxidants have become very popular in the news lately for their potential health and anti-aging properties. Antioxidants work by preventing oxidation reactions that produce free-radicals which can cause harm to the body. Try testing different vitamins for antioxidant activity. How do vitamins A, B, C, and E compare? Do some vitamins have more antioxidant activity than others? What are some other sources of antioxidants? Try testing…

Light, Color and Heat
Light, Color and Heat
My son is doing the 'How Does Color Affect Heating by Absorption of Light?' experiment for a science fair.
We purchased an infrared light bulb but now I am wondering if we should use a regular white light bulb. Both would be 250 W in strength. Will using the infrared light affect the results of the experiment?
Thank you!
Re: Light, Color and Heat
Hi - it depends on what you mean by "regular white light bulb." Incandescent bulbs still…

Dealing with Diabetes: The Road to Developing an Artificial Pancreas. Pls help asap!

I need help - converting cellulose into glucose
I need help - converting cellulose into glucose
Hi, is the following procedure/hypothesis viable for converting cellulose into glucose?
Hypothesis: I hypothesise that 0.5% cellulase will be the optimum point at which the most glucose is produced while using the least cellulase.
Procedure:
Obtaining cellulose
1. Collect 60g leaves from the same plant
2. Add 3-4 drops of distilled water into the leaves
3. Grind plant material with mortar and…

Simple Drone
Simple Drone
How do I get the drone to fly up the two dowels? The drone flies perfectly off the dowels and does well even when it's on one dowel. However, I have two parallel drilled holes in a wooden block and the drone will not go up.
Re: Simple Drone
Hi - for this to work on two dowels it's very important that the dowels are parallel and properly spaced to align with the straws, which should also be parallel. You should be able to easily slide the drone up and down the…
