We have been trying to explore topics and my son is interested in doing something in
the medical field related to Human body. the last time he did one about effect on various drink on tooth enamel - which he won a prize for, but now he wants to do something related to another organ/body part that is going to be critical for the other students to know about. I looked at the topics suggested but he doesn't like them, any ideas on a solid testable and measurable body/medical related topic which is of relevance ?

Hello,
If you want to test another very important organ the kidney is a great one to model. This kidney is needed for human function so that will be a great one to test out. You can model this by making a water filtration system and compare the health of two "kidneys"n through their efficacy. I hope this helps!

Sounds interesting
Can you give some details on how to make this measurable and testable . So she has to create a kidney model or 2 water filtration systems that represents 2 kidneys and then what is the hypothesis / question we are trying to solve ?
1. Any pointers on how to create a water filtration to mimic a kidney ?
2. can we use it to prove some health related point ? How can we test and measure it .. she seems to be excited , just need to make sure she is able to measure it with lots of data & also able to extend it to add more + definitely represents a social cause

What grade is your student in?
We don't have a project at Science Buddies related to a model kidney at the elementary school level.
I know you said you reviewed projects already, but here are a few suggestions that are health science-related that might be of interest in the upper elementary or middle school range:
