Cool careers in science/health?
Hey Reddit! I'm in need of some career advice. I just graduated with a bachelor's degree in ecology & evolutionary biology and a minor in sustainability studies and don't know what to do with it. I am looking for job where I don't have to sit all day, I like to be moving. I like to be outdoors but also fine with a non-sedentary job inside since I'm not the most rough and tumble kind of gal (being outside in pouring rain all…

Glass tubing: Advice
Glass tubing: Advice
Recently watched a video posted by Jaytwocents on youtube where he used glass tubing. I am curious and would like to hear from anybody who has worked with glass and could offer advice. Additionally, your thoughts on how glass tubing looks compared to PETG would be appreciated. I am currently considering making the change in my free time.
Appreciate any advice.

can water float on water? question
can water float on water? question
My school does an unusual kind of science fair where we're doing our project lots of times, quickly, for different groups of people. Since I don't have 10 minutes to let the salt water and fresh water mix, would using smaller bottles work? I'm hoping it wouldn't change the results, and could decrease the amount of time I'm using up.

Career in science - what advice would you share?
This might sound a bit weird but I am genuinely interested in the following.
Background information (the reason why I ask)
I will be giving a ~ten minute presentation to just-have-finished PhD students in Germany about career options. The students want to know about possible career options. Most of these students will be in natural sciences. So I am interested in your opinion even though you…

Applying to Astronomy Grad School
Applying to Astronomy Grad School
I'm an undergrad physics major and will be applying to astronomy grad programs this fall. Other than the obvious (grades, PGRE, letters), is there any good advice that I should consider?
As a note, I have a 3.65 GPA from a small school (UT-Dallas). I've been doing research for over two years (~1 year in material science), have done two posters (3rd coming next semester), will be submitting a paper next month, have a research…

Question:
Texas hill country is largely composed of soft limestone rock. When exposed to carbonic acid in rainwater, limestone can deteriorate and weaken. What affect does this process have on the landforms of Texas hill country?
Answer Choices:
-leads to contamination of groundwater
-strong Texas clay sits under limestone, so the weakened limestone does not affect landforms
-leads to the formation of underground caves
-leads to increased…

Dice Rolling Probability
Dice Rolling Probability
I am doing a science fair project on dice rolling probability. I have a D-6 (six sided dice) and a D-12 (twelve sided dice). I rolled the D-6 100 times with my left hand, my right hand, and then cupped in both. I did the same with the D-12. After recording the numbers and then adding up the sums of all the added rolls, I repeated the process but with rolling both die at the same time. I am trying to record the probability of rolling a 6 with…
