Purple carnations with food coloring
Why is the white carnation sitting in purple food dye turning blue?

Re: Purple carnations with food coloring
It is likely that as the dye travels to the flower, it is losing its intensity which makes it a lighter shade of purple that appears blue. If you want it to turn more purple I would suggest putting more dye into the water or even trying a different type of dye. Hope this helps!
