Effects of Manuka honey on Candida

Post by Emarkow »

I'm in the early stages of designing an experiment that will test effects of Manuka honey at 3 different UMF levels on Candida yeast. My plan is to use the Kirby Bauer disc diffusion method and test the zones of inhibition. Does this seem like a feasible experiment?

From what I understand about UMF and the Kirby Bauer method, I think this will be a reasonably simple experiment. If you wanted to make the experiment more about the underlying chemistry than simply a trademarked rating scale (https://www.aliveplushoney.com/amh-umf- ... lained.php), you could additionally test the MGO scale, and present your findings in terms of the concentration of methylglyoxal.
