Bromelain
Hi- I am doing a project for Biology about bromelain and how different concentrations of it affect the rate of dissolving a gelatin cube. I cannot find, however, how to make bromelain, I know that it is mostly in the stem of a pineapple, but do you blend and strain it, or some other method. Also, if anyone knows of any similar experiments, as I'm supposed to have one as my model, that would be much appreciated. Thank you so much for your help!!!

Re: Bromelain
Hi,
I think if you review this blog entry you will find the process you seek:
https://www.sciencebuddies.org/mentorin ... +Bromelain
In particular the isolation procedure outlined in the detailed description of the invention section of thess patents should be helpful to you:
http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Pars ... /Bromelain
http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Pars ... /Bromelain
Here is a lab experiment similar to what you enquired about, including the isolation of bromelain from pineapple:

Here is some possibly useful background information:

Hope this is what you need. Good luck on the project!
