Minimizing Bacteria In thawing of beef

Post by OliviaWeber »

Hello, my science fair project is Minimizing bacteria in thawing of beef and to do this, I will be testing four different methods, thawing at room temp, in the fridge, in a microwave, and in a water bath. To but the beef on agar plates after thawing, i must puree it and dillute it, ( serial dillution) I am wondering what dillution would be best, the project is on science buddies so if I failed to explain it well, the procedure can be found on here.

Hi Olivia,

From the procedure it looks like you would be doing 50/50 dilutions each time (this is generally what serial dilutions implies) for 9-11 rounds just make sure to keep track of how many rounds you do so you know what your dilution is at the end.

Best of luck with your project! Let me know if you have any more questions.
