I need some water fleas.

I'm trying to find some Daphnia magna (water fleas) for a project. Where can I get some? Can I collect my own from a pond or cow trough? Thank you!

If you collect pond organisms, I expect you will get many, many different species. Daphia magna are widely available for purchase, and you can find suppliers using an internet search. This page also has some good information with the name of one supplier:

You might try a local pet store or company that sells water fleas. You could collect it from a pond or trough but you might collect many different species. Also, pond or trough fleas may have diseases that could possibly affect your experiment. Good Luck!
