Terrarium

AFTER you've done your research and concluded your experiments, it is time to prepare for the science fair. Ask specific questions about preparing for a science fair, including how to set up your display board, how to prepare a presentation, etc. (Please post questions about selecting a project or conducting your experiment by posting in the appropriate "area of science" forum.)

Terrarium

Post by Hollisopolis »

We have a finished our terrarium, but need a really great hypothesis/question. Some we are considering are: How is fog formed? Does the color of water affect the color of the plants? Can a frog survive in a terrarium? As you can see, we could use a better question...something that would be interesting to demonstrate. Thanks.

Hi,

You expressed interest in making for as a project. When I volunteered in a sixth grad science classroom, this experiment was the hihglight of the year. Here is a video of a demonstration on clouds at the Exploatorium in San Franscisco:

Here is a written description of the sixth grade demonstration I saw:

Here is a Science Buddies Project Idea writeup on the same topic:

I don’t know why they do not recommend it.
The only tricky part is getting fog condensation nuclei in the bottle in my experience with the experiment.

I hope this helps. You may also want to read the Science Buddies Project guide for tips on how to do a great sience fair project:
