Re: How does hot water and cold water affect rocks?
Hello,
For you experiment, you can use a "water displacement" method to measure the volume of a rock. This means that you take a beaker of water (record the volume) and submerge the rock completely inside (record the new volume). The volume of the rock would be the new volume minus the old one.
Use the same method to measure the volume of the rock after you place it in hot water, and then the volume after you place it in cold water. You can compare these three volumes: the original, after cold water, and after hot water to answer your question. I hope this helps!
