I'm trying to help my nine year old come up with an experiment. It is on the effects of smoking on the heart. There seems to be alot of experiments for the effects of smoking on the lungs, but nothing for the heart. We have all the research done and everything typed up, but on ideas for an experiment. Any bit of help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you in advance

Hi Shannon,
It would be helpful to have some information about what you have already done. However, here are some thoughts that come to mind after glancing over the articles from the links below –
Three things you could consider monitoring are heart rate, breathing rate and blood pressure before and after smoking a cigarette.
http://www.ash.org.uk/html/factsheets/html/fact06.html
http://www.quitsmokingsupport.com/heart.htm
http://www.bhf.org.uk/publications/uplo ... d-his2.pdf
I am not sure if these suggestions will be useful without knowing what research you have already done. Also, how are you planning to test the effects of smoking on the heart – will you use human volunteers?? Please let us know so we can be more helpful.
Thanks,
Mary
