Hello,
For my project I would like to see the effect of vinegar on eggshells and chicken bones under the microscope. Would it be possible see the effect using a school microscope? Would I have to make a slide?
Thank you for your help.

Re: Eggshell and chicken bones under a microscope
Hi there!
Thank you for your question!
Generally, the effect of vinegar on eggshells and bones tends to happen over 36-48 hours. It is possible that you will not be able to monitor the full process under a microscope because of the duration of the process; however, one option may be exactly what you suggested – creating a microscope slide of a small piece of eggshell/bone immersed in a few drops of vinegar. You may be able to see the bubble formation as a result of the vinegar dissolving the calcium carbonate of the sample!
Please let us know if we can help you further. All the best with your project!
