Hi, I have a question about ice and salt cuz I have this project about it. My questions are below and I hope you are able to answer them.
1) how does salt melt ice
2) is it a chemical reaction when the salt and ice interact if so what is the molecules used and how do they interact with each other
3) What are the molecules and make salt and what are the molecules that make ice
4) If I add a lot of salt to the ice will it melt faster
I hope you are able to answer these questions and if there is any more info I need to know can you plz tell me???
Thank you for all the help you provided

Re: Ice and Salt
Hello,
This sounds like a fun project! Salt helps melt ice by lowering the freezing point of water. This is the temperature where water changes from a liquid (water) to a solid (ice).
This article talks more about salt (NaCl) and ice (H2O) and might be helpful: https://www.sciencebuddies.org/news/article?id=104697
Good luck,
Audrey
