Microbial Fuel Cell Project

Post by Habibii »

Hey,

I am planning on making a microbial fuel cell to generate some electricity. Is it possible that I can charge something small maybe a battery using the fuel cells if I connect more than one together? I really want to be able to use the electricity generated to power something. Any help?

Thanks for your help!!!

Hello!

Thank you for your question!

A great resource I’d recommend following is the Science Buddies “Turn Mud into Energy With a Microbial Fuel Cell” project (https://www.sciencebuddies.org/science- ... l-cell-mud). The experiment methodology uses the microbial fuel cell to power an LED. I am sure you can charge a power cell using your fuel cell; however, I’d recommend gauging the power of the fuel cell using a multimeter.

Hope this helps! Let me know if you have more questions.
